2007 LGBT Economic Development Summit

text

On November 3, 2007, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the Office of  Gay, Lesbian,Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) Affairs, the Department of Small and Local Business Development, the Washington Economic Partnership, PEN- Metro DC’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce sponsored the premier 2007 LGBT Economic Development Summit.

The goals of the summit were to ensure that GLBT business leaders and entrepreneurs continue to play an important role in leading the economic and creative development of the city.  The GLBT community has long been a driving force in rebuilding many of the District’s neighborhoods and the District government is working to ensure current GLBT business leaders and members of the GLBT community who want to start a new business have the tools they need to assist them.  Over 150 people attended.
